KY NimrodWeld and reshape pistol slide?
I have an older CZ-75 I picked up for a song that the previous owner botched pretty good when he installed a set of Bo-mars. Would like to weld up the dovetail and little bit of flat he carved on the rear of the slide and restore an original fixed sight.
Does anyone know of a smith who can do this work (build up the metal with a weld) and reshape the rear of the slide? I want it done right but CZ will sell me a stripped slide for $205 so if I'm looking at a gunsmith bill greater than $150 or so I'll just go with the new slide route.
Thanks

jimmyd223It will be much cheaper to go the way of the new slide at 205.

vanWhat i had done years ago, with a botched up job like that on a 1911 slide,i tookd a blank blade and silver soldered to the slide.the filed it done to the contours of the slide. Then i cut the slide to fit a S&W adjustable sight off a relvolver and it worked super, and had classic lines to it as well. van

ShopCartRacingBuy a new slide.
Many smiths won't even touch the job, let alone charge you less than $205.

Jim KobeIf you have it welded, even by the best guy in the business, it will probably warp and be rendered useless.
