| I've got a magnaported Whitworth 375 that came to me ported. We used it in Namibia with great results and I love the rifle. I'd shot it from the bench with muffs and plugs, no problem. In the field (where I never feel recoil anyway), it sure rung our ears, especially as I was winging follow up shots and my son's wounded gemsbok. I know I can cut off the barrel and re-fix the sights. This would take a 24 inch barrel to 22 inches, which itself would increase muzzle blast a bit. I also thought about finding a banded front sight, and have the band cover the ports. HOwever, the ports would need 1.3 inches of coverage and NEGC banded front sights just cover 1 inch and change. Any other way to deal with a magnaport? Thanks, Bob |

It could be soldered or glued or even threaded on.
I would vote for threaded, so that you could remove it to clean the crud out of what remains of the ports. If it was a permanent cap, the fouling would build up in the ports, only to be partially removed via chemical action when cleaning. |

| On second thought, if it was threaded, you may have trouble indexing the front sight when removing & replacing the sleeve... |
