Just saw A "Sears Heritage MKIV Prestige" marked on barrel at the local shop.

Is this made by Interarms for sears ?

It Looked like a FN mauser but with the non safety bolt sleeve and trigger side safety slot in the stock . Hinged floor plate bottom metal(looked like aluminum?)

Did not have any of the interarms or CZ lettering on the left rail, just blank with the serial on the left front ring .

Looked like a interarms mauser action.

It was a 30-06 and had a semi rollover monte carlo stock. Nice wood with some fiddle back.

I might go back and buy it for $299. Blueing and bore were very nice.

Any one know the skinney on this one?

Rick

I think I've read somewhere the "Sears" mausers were all F.N., but around 1957 they went to the trigger type safety.

Could be wrong though.

Sounds as if you are describing a new gun. Is that the case?

If it is an older used gun, Sears in the late 50's
did retail a Mauser built on the FN 400 "Supreme" action. It had the safety as you describe, 24" sporter weight/profile barrel, no thumb recess in the left action wall, came drilled & tapped for a scope, & had a plain but good walnut stock with no forend tip added.

Mine, bought in the very early 60's (late '62, or the first quarter of '63 if I recall correctly) was in 7 m/m Rem Mag. Unfortunately after I moved to Oregon for the first time, I needed a chainsaw with a 40" bar, and traded that rifle straight-up for one.

My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

I havea jc higgins 51 and I knew the later ones were Husqvarna 1600 type actions . This looks like a FN interarms afare. Large front ring basic 98 fn reciever.

Alberta canuk, a new gun ?? No newer than a 1951 FN though.

Yes it had a 24" sporter wieght barrel , a more polished finish than a m50.

The bolt handle was a little different than a older FN with no notch in the reciever , different forge, little shorter knob.

Bolt sleeve with no safety.

It had a angle cut rosewood type foreend tip and a wood grip cap, monte carlo, one of those early 60 styles .
