Any one know the best way to open up the bolt face for a Siamese Mauser for a 45/70 conversion. How much. using a stone at a slow speed in the mill --- what size ,grit ect...? Also we are looking for a reamer.

You face with a lathe, if at all possible... in fact,it's so much preferred, that I would suggest you buy even a cheap lathe to do so.

I used to be member 710 but got lost in one of the upgrades. You helped me with some 416 Rigby issues before. If you don't mind me askin, are you working as a gunsmith/gunbuilder open to the public? Or have you gotten all your know-how seat of the pants working on your own stuff.

I started the way most of us did... wanting to save some $$ and loving guns. I've had some formal instruction... I am a serious hobbist, though, not a gunsmith...
