My bookeeping "system" may not be the epitome of the computer age. So...if you sent $$$ and did not receive the goods, please let me know... duane@customgunandifle.com...or 253 535 0066...so to answer a question or two!

Alkanet root is basically a food coloring....no nuetritional value, but can't hurt you if swallowed.

The root is ground (by me) in an exotic machine (coffee grinder)...stuffed into a plastic baggie and shipped out to you guys!

Unlike analine dye, it does not appear to be "sun sensitive" (perhaps will not "fade") and unlike analine dye is does not carry the warning of a carcinogen (causing cancer)

You can use this product with a clear conscience!

So...Mix up about an ounce in a quart of...oh...Naptha, paint thinner, lacquer thinner and slop[ it on the stock as much as you want ...then

Mix another ounce in a quart of sealer, such as "Ship and Shore"...or whatever you want to use...again slop it on for a half a day or so...don't let it "dry"

Now...Add some more to whatever stock finish you want to use...I like "SeaFin" I like to mix this with rottenstone to make kind of a paste...rub this paste onto the stock..mostly across grain..then polish off with a paper towel.

Rub with "gusto"...the stock should feel pretty dry when done...as the pores gets filled, I like to go with linseed oil, again mixed into a "paste"..if you want to speed up the drying , a little cobalt dryer will help...but cobalt dryer is not without it's special problems...USE PROTECTIVE GLOVES such as "examination gloves" Once dry..not to worry!
