Any tricks to getting a stuck ckoke out,I mean really stuck? I have it soaking in a cup of liquid wrench right now. I tried a little heat already.

Sounds crazy, but I used my Impact air wrench from the garage. Chucked up a choke tube wrench, and it busted loose right away.

My brother welded up a choke wrench - impact wrench set up.

He puts the barrel in a the barrel vise, soaks the muzzle with Kroil, waits, heats it a little with the torch, and then applies the impact wrench.

So far, he is unstoppable.

I have removed them using a easy-out after soaking in Kroil. It works and doesn't destroy the tube.

I got a over/under shotgun into my shop with a stuck choke in the upper barrel a while ago. The lady that owned the gun had allready got some "help" from others whit the stuck choke so the slots was quite messed up Frowner

I turned a tight fitting axle in the lathe and epoxy-glued it into the choke. It was a easy job to breake loose the choke tha day after. After the slots had been trued up in the milling machine both the shotgun and the choke was up and running again Smiler

This is probably the last way when about everything else have failed.

Gents,

A helpful hint to avoid this occuring in the furture.

Have a a pair of Winchester 101's in 12 & 20 Gauges w/Choke Tubes. They used to work a smidgen loose during rounds of Trap or Skeet or during longer Bird sessions such as Doves and I would have to continually give them a small twist or two while shooting (also is a good reminder to occaisionally check them while shooting - safely, of course).

These were Win-Chokes that had enough purchase outside the muzzles to afford NOT having to use a Tool as with Flush Chokes.

Over the years have had both Shotguns Pro-Ported and suddenly the Choke "Looseness" Syndrone simply vanished. I now use even less lube and they can be inserted finger tight without loosening during shooting.

Cheers,

Occasionally I will get one in the shop so tight I have to set it up and bore out the offending tube.
