I have the opportunity to buy a cz 550 in 30-06 for �40, it has bent barrell after being run over. The gun itself has only shot a box of bullets.
I would like to rebarrell it in possibly 6.5-06,is it worth doing or would it be best left alone?
one of the comments made by a friend,was its still a cz even if it has a shilen or something else on it, "you can't polish a turd".

If I could find "bent barreled" CZ's for $55 I'd buy a truck load of em.

Jump on it and rebarrel it !! The cz's are great and you will be very happy with the rifle I have 5 of those turds and I can truly say there the only turds that smell like roses to me mate

Sounds like just the candidate for a Border barrel in a sporter contour! According to their website, that would turn your CZ into a 400 pound (monetary value as opposed to weight ) rifle - including proofing and maybe some blueing. That is not too shabby, is it, in particular with a custom barrel in a caliber of your choice!
