Installing a sling swivel in carbon fiber. Having never done it, I'm a little concerned with splintering. Has anyone done this? What type bit , speed , surface prep, etc. for good results? Thanks.

never done it. always had them predrilled. i do know that you will need something behind it. some type of epxy/resin. maybe a threaded insert set in the resin mix. if no one can answer try a hobby shop[good one]. lots of airplanes are now being built in carbon. someone there might be able to let you know or get the stuff for you. good luck woofer

Thanks Woofer. Good advice. I figure a sharp brad-point and maybe a smidge of epoxy to freeze the surfaces might do it but I'll call a shop I know of and wait for some input from others before I make a move.
