I'm looking for a source for inexpensive hinged hard plastic gun cases for shipping. Catch is I want them to each come in a cardboard outer box. I'm looking at 20+ each.

Can anyone help me with a source?

Thx

Mike

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

Thanks for your post. I can get them here in SLC for ~$20, but the ones sold at retail don't include a carboard box.
I'm a bit sceered to send nice collectable guns via UPS without an outer box over the case.

Since they're already protected, you can easily make outer "boxes" from refrigerator boxes or any other large corrugated box.

I wouldn't hesitate to send them without an outside wrapper (and have many times), but I'd do it USPS priority mail with insurance and tape the outside of case and cover the hinges well with tape.

Cameron packaging looks like they have exactly what I'm after. Might even ditch the plastic case idea at $20/per and do the box/sleeve/foam block pack instead.

Many thanks for the replies.

I am trying to talk myself into selling several rifles. One of the steps I need to get done is to get cases and boxes. I stopped by the local ex-Sportsman's Wearhouse on my way home and they were unpacking a shipment of cases, taking them out of the carboard box and putting them on display. I asked what they do with the boxes and they said they just throw them out. I took home 4 boxes. The next day my brain started to work and I realized I should have just bought the cases in the boxes while I had the chance. Back to the store. I asked about getting some more boxes along with the cases and was told all the boxes were already in the crusher.

Brownells carries shipping boxes. They aren't real cheap, but you may not need the plastic case. you could call and check.

Soft foam padding for the Rifle and rigid urethane foam for the corners and center portion of your shipping

box . Wax paper or plastic trash bags work just dandy , you can also just buy the foam in the can stuff

at a local home center . Rigid foam is cheap piece of mind , when shipping items you prefer to have in tact

upon arrival !. archer archer archer

After trying to collect an insurance claim from UPS I decided hard cases are the only way to go. The shipping companies will gladly take your insurance business but good luck collecting!

Exactly why I use urethane foam lined boxes , with soft foam pad for the Rifles to lie in !.

Someone has got to be literally trying to destroy your box if they break the hard foam shell !.

When important items must be shipped their normally packaged accordingly and encased in urethane

foam shell or at least points of potential impact . This is why they arrive in tact !.

Styrofoam used to be the product shippers preferred as it was cheap , no longer the case !.

When irate pissed off recipients of damaged merchandise bellow about taking business else where

smart shippers listened and came up with the plan !. Peanuts popcorn and such leak if the box is

torn , urethane foam sets rigid resist taring as well as impacts . Air bags are ok for certain

shipping requirements but I still prefer urethane foam and haven't been disappointed yet !.

I used to over see shipments of Military items on commercial carriers numbering in the 100's

weekly . Worked in every instance say for one , the Semi went out bound over an icy bridge

down a gorge 700 Ft. plus and burned . Most parts would have been in tact except for the fire !!!.
