I'm new to this so please give me a hand. I took a barrel from a persian mauser (Czech 98/29 from FAC)action and tried to install it on a yugo m98 (preduce 44 made by nazi parts shipped to yugo to be assembled before the allies can destroy)action. I can screw it in about 1 turn and it stops. I don't want to torgue it in and crack the front ring. The old barrel can be screwed in about 3/4 of the threads by hand before it stops and needs torque. What's the deal here? Please help.

Sounds like threads are just a little big.

This is not unusual. Before I got a lathe I fitted several issue barrels by deepening the
threads with a 12 thread/ inch thread restorer. Yes I know that the Mauser has 55 degee threads, but not a lot of metal has to be removed. If you are careful you can pull it off ok.
Better get someone with a lathe that has a 55 degree tool and can pick up a thread. The barrel should turn in most of the way by hand. Be sure to check the headspace when you are done.
good luck!

Also the breech of the Yugo barrels are "safety breeched" & the Turks are not. It will take some retro-fitting to make it work.

The "saftety breeched " Yugos were intermediate length actions, not made from Nazi parts.
The Turk barrels come in several thread sizes, mostly small. The barrel in question is from a Persian.
Good luck1
