What is the thread pitch of the Weatherby Vanguard/Howa barrels? Is it the same as any other major manufacturer? "One shot is usually enough..."

The thread pitch is 1.5 or a feed rate of .059 per revolution on a lathe. Set up your lathe for this feed rate & DO NOT disengage the half nut untill the threads are fully cut just back out & reverse the feed back to your starting point & repeat till the threads are cut full depth. PS: You need to be real quick when threading against a shoulder & not disenggaging the half nut. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. A dial indicator set for a two zero revolution before contacting the shoulder makes the tool withdrawal at the precise moment a piece of cake.

I hate cutting metric threads with a belt drive lathe for just the reasonD. Humbarger stated. Even the instructions on setting up the change gears were wrong. PAC-NOR will thread your Vanguard barrel for you and all you have to do is adjust the shoulder and the breach face. Did I mention I hate cutting metric threads? "I ask, sir, what is the Militia? I just did one for a fellow last week. It's supposed to be M26x1.5, but I had to turn the shank down to 1.012 instead of 1.023 to keep the tops from interfering in the receiver. Otherwise just cut it to nominal over wires and it works slick. And yes, you do have to be fast to not hit the shoulder with the threading tool!
