ThomasAcraGlas Thinner?
I find myself in the process of repairing a laminate stock with a hairline crack in the wrist. I read somewhere that Thinned Acraglas was an excellent adhesive to make this repair with.
What do I use to thin Acraglas?
Any suggestions on a better product to repair a small crack where getting the glue to penetrate is the key?
thanks,
TK

dpcdI think Acraglas is very thin as it is. Maybe you are using gel?

Doc224/375The key to repairing hairline cracks is forcing liquid or gel into the area of the crack . In your case Pressure is needed .
By placing a small amour of adhesive directly over the crack , an then wetting ONLY the very edge of correct size cup ; PRESS DOWN
FIRMLY hopefully the cup seals along it's edges . If not but comes close figure a clean quick way to clamp it in place .
Then remove after awhile and wipe excess adhesive away before permanently setting up .
I use old an new different size bicycle inter tubes ,cut 6-12" in length with the filler valve in the center intact. I then slip the stock into open end of tube position wrap the one end with flat wire or commercial rubber bands *and any voids use pieces of inter tubes to fill gaps . Once one ends secure I roll or pull the other end as close too the closed end as possible . Mix my epoxy disperse it along the crack . Carefully unfold scrunched end of inter tube over the epoxy not smearing it . Repeat flat wire over inter tube too wood , making air tight seal . Using a Hand pump fill the valve 4-8 lbs . Let it set for ? Remove Before epoxy is fully set wipe clean . DONE DEAL !.
* Flat wire work better than rubber bands unless you have really Strong commercial Thick bands then they will hold the air pressure 1.
I also use vacuum set up for incising resins into different matrix's ,this process requires capital investment however !.
You'll probable fined this easier to use .
http://www.amazon.com/Dia-Heig...-Color/dp/B002I002QM If your thinning an epoxy mixture with acetone THOROUGHLY MIX EPOXY FIRST ALLOW INDUCTION TIME HALF OF GEL TIME and use as little of acetone as needed . There are adverse effects when altering prepared formulations !.

jeffeossoacetone .. test hardness of a sample first, don't attempt your first blend for the actual repair

Heat. Just a bit of heat will make Acraglas very thin.
