476NE Go to AR15.com in the AR forum section. There is a lot of information on building AR's. It does require some special tools. I may have a copy of the army maintenance manual on disc somewhere I could send you but the AR15.com has better information. It's not hard to do at all. AKJD.

You could purchase a complete upper in a different configuration, allowing you to have a 16" carbine on one day and a 24" groundhogger the next. I like the stuff sold by Model "1" Sales at www.model1sales.com

Just got done turning the barrel down to .498 and threading 1/2-28. 45 minutes start to finish, taking the barrel off, threading and reinstalling. Really is a piece of cake.

Not much. Very easy. Get the book by Kulek and Smith on assembly of AR-15's. Brownells has it for about $15.00. It will show you how to do it with some very good word and picture instruction. You will need some pin punches, a small hammer, and a barrel wrench. The DPMS combo wrench is pretty nice. Brownells has them also. They would also be happy to sell you a video tape by AGI that shows you how to do the job. JCN
