Dovetail angle-bases??
What is the angle of the dovetail on Talley bases? I am making some square bridge bases and need help.

Butch, they make a few different types. Angles vary. I would just call Talley on Monday, they are VERY friendly and pretty helpful....

You are talking about the bases, aren't you? I've only encountered 60 degree

Duane,
By holding the 60 deg. next to it, it looks to be 60deg. on the bases that I have. Yes, I am am machining new bases. The factory ones are nasty.
Fish30114, yes they are friendly, I was just wanting to make all of the chips today.

Butch, haven't been watching closely, hope if you made some at 60 they work. I have a bunch for Sako actions, and although the angle maybe consistent, there is obviously different spacing. I had seen some bases for a different action (CZ I think) and would have thought the angle was different, but maybe it was only the spacing in that instance as well.

Good luck!

I have had to do a few things and got interrupted. I am taking photos as I go. I have a Pierce receiver that I am working on. I built the recoil lug and will tig it on. I will probably screw and glue the bases on. It has a Winchester type 3 pos safety. The Pierce is the best of the Remington clones that I have found. It is the only clone that is in CM. It is all CNC and the raceways are EDM cut. All screw holes in the receiver are blind. It better not look like a Remington when I get done. I am looking for a CM barrel blank that starts at 1.350 and I will probably let Gunmaker make it half octagon. It will be some variation of 6.5 and is a short action.
On the barrel, neither Shilen or Douglas have a CM blank in that size. I will try Kreiger and Pac Nor next week. Does Dan Lilja have CM?

Yesterday I milled out some CZ527 19mm dovetail to Weaver mount adapters.

Both the CZ dovetails and the Weaver dovetails were 45 degrees.

The ones are the left are said to be Talleys.
The straight on pic makes it obvious: 45 degrees.
It seems to me that I worked on semi auto pistol sights, and some were 45 degree and some were 60 degree dovetails.

I don't have any Talley rings or mounts here to measure, but from the pic on the Talley site, it looks like 45 degrees.

Here is where I bought the dovetail cutter:

The 1/2" cutter is good for Aluminum and I run it fast.

Talley just called and confirmed that it is a 60deg. cutter. I will cut it tonight.
