An unusual event!
An unusual event!
I actually got a phone call from my current gunsmith, Tip Burns, earlier this week. I would have reported this event earlier, however I found my self is some kind of state of denial!
After 2 years of little or no contact from and dodging my phone messages and emails, by the previous gunsmith, I was taken aback by getting a progress report and questions about what I wanted.
I was told that the barrels were on the actions and that the stock work was commencing this week.
I sense this is the proper method of taking care of business? I am impressed.
These projects may be finished sooner than I thought. Nothing had been done by the previous gunsmith in 2 years.

Well, maybe you ought to tell us all a little bit more about this Tip Burns fellow. Does he have a website and email. What kind of work does he do. Sounds like a guy a lot of us here might want to do business with in the future.
Rusty, I'm glad to hear this. Sounds like Tip is on top of things.

Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
I sent Rusty to Tip after he shortened/recrowned my Whitworth and fitted a wisner 2 pos safety for me. He turned the job around in 3 weeks! He also restocked a friend's old mauser in a mannlicher style stock. Nice guy, what I've seen of his work so far has been first rate. He tells me the only way he makes it as a business is to get jobs out the door. He has a great reputation for bluing as well. Bob

lee440I have been friends with Tip for many years and he is a standup guy. I hated it when he moved from Houston a couple of years ago, but he had had it with city life and decided to chuck it for the country. He is an excellent all-around smith and top-notch on barrelling and bluing. Just don't spread the word, or he will be booked up all the time too!! Robert.
