Curious idea I had. The front sight on my CZ550 is a bit tiny and I had an idea to remedy this, be it a bit of a "redneck" modification. Would it be worth taking a sewing pin and epoxying it parallel with the top of the front sight, leaving the colored head of the pin to overhang thereby creating a crude sight bead? ------------0 Sewing Pin _______ (______(_________ (0)_______________ Gun barrel w/ front sight ____________________________ If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ... 2018 Zimbabwe - Tuskless w/ Nengasha Safaris 2011 Mozambique - Buffalo w/ Mashambanzou Safaris

Not sure how long that would last but you bring up a good point. That front sight is small and hard to see. Any suggestions from others as to who makes a quality replacement?

I figured if I can coat everything in a clear epoxy, then that should increase the strength without having any negative side effects. I know Brownell's has a CZ replacement sight, but they're a bit pricey. ____________________________ If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ... 2018 Zimbabwe - Tuskless w/ Nengasha Safaris 2011 Mozambique - Buffalo w/ Mashambanzou Safaris

I have replaced beads that were too small and/or broken off on three front sights by utilizing small chunks of gold out of my old wedding band. I cut a small piece bigger than what I want to end up with, solder it on, and dress down to size and clean up the solder bead with small files. Touch up the steel with cold blue if intruded upon by the process. The gold won't tarnish, and if you abrade the face of it with some fine sandpaper it won't glare. Finally, a better use for that gold than it's original purpose!

Why not go with something more substantial like a finish nail? You could take your "nail" polish and paint the end of it red. Seriously, how much is a replacement sight? _______________________________________________________________________________ This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. i did it once with a piece of warthog ivory and it work ok, but better yet is to either replace the front sight or use a piece of fiber optic material which really stands out

How about one of those map pins? They come in different colors and even my old eyes can see em? John Farner If you haven't, please join the NRA!

a new fiber optic bead, which is great, is about 25-26 bucks, figure in your time to attach it to the site, sighting in the rifle using something that may or may not hold up under recoil, the cost of the box of pins (unless you already have some) the chance of it falling off in the field. anyways, you might not be that far ahead of just buying an actual replacement bead. chunks of gold out of the wedding band is good if your wife doesn't find out.

For the old fa*ts, If you ever have to have a tooth with a gold crown removed, keep it. Remelt the crown to make sight beads. Might as well get something out of what you paid for it. Chuck
