viperidaeRebated rim (425WR & 500Jeff) feeding question...
I have been told and believe that it is very difficult to get a round with a rebated rim (500) to feed from a staggered magazine and nearly impossible to get a round with a severely rebated rim (425) to feed. Does it get easier with a non-staggered/straigh column feed? I am inquiring as to the feasability of future Enfield P-14 projects.

jeffeossoit's tough to get teh 500 jeffe to feed, as it is so badly rebated -- largely due to bolt face hitting the rebate --
goos smith's can make it work

Duane WiebeThe 500 Jeff is a favorite cartridge of mine. Have made several and used two. I make sure they feed in any position imaginable including upside down.
If your gunsith cannot make them feed, find a new gunsmith...this is not rocket science, just careful workmanship.

Duane WiebeNo..not really, sorta like rebuilding a 1948 Ford transmission...ever done that? You gotta start by removing the rear end, then work forward...

jeffeossocurrently, it appears my favorite hobby is to rebuild atv engines and transmissions these days ..my wife discovered she loves riding bikes, and I am too cheap to take em to the shop! ... been awhile since i pulled an old ford apart. was always more of a chevy guy.. but if ford had made the apache cameo truck, I would probably be a ford man!
