Can someone tell me what the measurement is? Trying to identify an old stock by 'telepathy.' That is, over the phone, long distance. Sounds like it might be a worked over Springfield. TIA, Todd

The guard screw spacing should be similar to the 1917 at 7.75" if I remember correctly. Thanks.

If I recall correctly the rear guard screw is not at 90 degrees to the action center line. If the rear hole is at an angle it should be for a Springfield.

Todd As everyone has stated the guard screw hole spacing is 7.75" measured at the action. Stocker has brought up the key point that the rear guard screw is angled forward and as a result the screw centers at the triggerguard is about 1/16" less. This is the give away on a springfield stock as well as the opening for the magazine cuttoff. Hope this helps.
