What can you tell me about him and the quality of his work? I've seen a few of his rifles, prices tend to vary greatly. What would be a fair price for one of his rifles? Is he still producing custon guns? Contact info if he is?Any help would be appreciated.

I saw him at the Tulsa gun show in April, he had a table. Don't have an address or phone number. I believe ib404 bought a Kurz Mauser from him, he may know. Years ago he was the gunsmith for Champlin & Haskins in Enid, OK. I doubt if he's very active making full customs anymore, but I could be wrong. His work is considered top quality. He made my 416 Rigby, originally in 338-378KT back in the 1960's, rebarreled a few years ago by another gunsmith:

I have sevral of his rifles. I recommend a great deal of caution when dealing with his stuff. All is not as it appears! Beyond that, I think he has as much talent, skill, artistry and imagination as anyone in the business. As an owner of "sevral" custom rifles, some of the very best and some of the very worst were done by him. Caution with all of his rifles.

I find it interesting that none of the custom makers have chimed in here. Their silence speaks volumes in my mind.

I'd judge the specific rifle on its own merits. Perhaps some of Nelson's work is better than others, but that is also true of the very finest makers. I have some custom rifles built by famous makers that don't compare well with others made by complete unknowns.
