I posted this on Hunt America but, wanted to open it up to any readers on this board as well. You guys do an excellent job of spending others money. So here is the deal. I have 3 M98 1909 actions that I need to turn into projects for this winter. I'm building a 416 Taylor for a friend but, have these actions and need at least one if not 2 other projects for the winter. Currently my safe has a 22-250, (2)25-06, 338 win mag, and the following wildcats based off of my 280Imp case. a 240, 250, 280, 340 and 380. So if you could do the metal and stock work what would you build using a M98 action?

How about a .380 Howell and a .416 Howell?

George, My 380 is really a 375-280gibbs with a little shorter neck and 40 deg shoulder. When I draw the two cases the shoulders cross. I have made cases for mine using the Howell brass. Now the 416 or a 411 using my reamer does hold my interest. I would use the Howell brass from AHR. Taking a 280 to 416 can be done but it is a lot of work and the neck is very thin. AHR was going to build a 410 or 400 Howell and then dropped it. I've looked at the 411 Hawk and like the balistics. Sounds like something that would be fun with heavy cast bullets as well.

I'll go with DB Bill.
9.3x64, 9.3x62, these are my next projects.

Good Hunting

Ramrod, How about an old classic for a change instead of a "modern wildcat"? I'm talking 244 rem, 220 Weatherby rocket, 228 Weatherby, 375 WEA, 10.75 mauser, or a Gibbs, Mashburn or Newton round just for nostalgia? Look through Ackley's book of wildcats also. Yeah, I'm a little crazy!

Ramrod, when you close your eyes do you see yourself shooting something big, little, or just paper with the completed gun? It doesn't matter if you ever will, but that's how I start things.

I notice that you don't seem to have a 30-06, that is an option too, you're not a real hunter unless you have one stashed in the safe somewhere.
