Is your thumb in a safe position when shooting guns with alot of recoil (don't want a jammed thumb)?

You can wrap it up over the top of the stock,..just as with a standard sporter style stock. I use the same technique as if I were shooting one of my benchrest stocks so that I am almost practicing while I ma shooting one of my rifles with a tactical stock. You shouldn't have any trouble with jammed thumbs, as the vericle grip and palm swell may well help to absorb some of the rearward movement. I shot my 300RUM in a tactical HS Precision and never felt like she was gonna come back on my thumb. The fact that your hand is more verticle,..actually pulls the placement of your thumb rearward,.. try it for yourself. Take your hand as if you were holding a standard stock,..and see how it is rotated foreward to get a good grip with the angle of the stock and your finger is "reaching" for the trigger? Now rotate your hand to the more verticle grip position and see how your thumb moves back toward you and the trigger is much more easily reached with less "stretch"? Your verticle grip on the tactical stock will move your thumb away from the bolt shroud and put the trigger closer so that trigger finger fatigue is all but eliminated. IMO

Hello Africa in 03, I have a McMillan Sako Varmint stock, but it's the fibergrain model and quite sturdy. I got it because I'm not a lover of things synthetic, and you can't tell it from wood. I can't really say how stable a platform it is because I have a .222Rem. Mag. built on a Sako single shot action mounted in it so I guess that's not a good test, but I do like it. Best wishes.
