I have a friend who lost his magazine for his 700 in 221 Fireball. Iput in a short one for a 223 I had here in the shop but it doesn`t feed too good. [Don`t know if it ever really did either as its a new rifle]Question! Is the mag box for the 221 different from the standard short one for the 700s? Even Remingtons "gurus" couldn`t answer as it was a short run deal. I have called around and noone seems to know. Any ideas? I have never measured the mag box spacer I have for the Classic but it is about 3/4 inch thick. Also they make a special follower for the fireball. As they chambered the Classic, Laminated Mountain and currently the LVSF all in the 221 a follower should be available from Rem anyway if not Midway, Brownells or other authorized Remmy repair/parts places. Try Jack First Gunshop in Rapid City, SD. On mine the spacer is welded right in the mag box and not removeable like other small boltface applications. Hope this helps. | |||
