Lowest scope mounts?

Except for custom milled mounts, who makes the lowest scope mounts: bases and rings assembly?

I am thinking of mounts where the raised bolt handle just clears the underside of the occular bell.

I was wondering who made something suitable to mount an inch diameter objective / straight tube scope really low.

I have Tallet medium height mounts for 4x36 and 6x42 scopes, but they seem rather high when you install the scopes. I was looking for the match stick clearance between the objective lens bell and the barrel, plus the 'adequate' opened bolt clearance described above.

Thanks.

Not "Tallet", but Talley.

Sorry!

The Conetrols are supposed to be pretty low. Would be worth a call

I have often thought about this question myself, and have wondered why a person couldn't take a set of bases and attach them and shave them down so they were as thin as possible but still exactly the same height on the front and rear and then just weld a set of rings to them. I mean just the round ring. that would provide the lowest possible mounting.

22WRF,
That would be to low for most scopes, and boltshrouds. I have never had the need to mount anything lower than Leupolds low rings in standard bases.

If I have to go low, I usually resort to Leupold PRW bases and Weaver 4x4 rings. At least for Weaver style mounts, it's the lowest I've found (in quality mounts). HTH, Dutch.

If you want to spend several hundred bucks, Griffin & Howe sidemounts offer the lowest rig. The base can be made any height to get any scope down as low as possible.
