I've just started using Wipe Out on a trial basis.

Things I like so far -

-Easy application - Just put the nozzle to either end of the bore (acutally to the rod guide at the breech end), and squirt a 1 second blast into the barrel. Product foams and expands to completely fill barrel.
- Walk Away & Forget - Instructions say to leave in the bore a minimum of 1 hour and a max of 24 hours, then wipe out with a tight patch. That 23-hour window is very convenient when you've got a lot going after a day at the range.
- No Brushing & No Brass Jags - Neither enters the bore to apply the cleaner, so any "blue" you get when you wipe the bore out is from brass/copper which was left in the bore by bullets.
- Seems to really eat up brass, copper, powder, and plastic fouling, in jig time.

Things I don't like so far -

- This stuff "burns" skin and eyes on contact. Or at least that's what the instructions say. I got some on my hand and got no burn, but I can't see my liver or kidneys very well so don't know what may have happened there.
- Wearing Long Rubber Gloves - Instructions are to wear long rubber gloves and eye protection when using.
- No Affect on Lead Fouling - Product will not remove lead fouling
- Eats Stock Finishes - At least it eats wax, varnish, and lacquer finishes...doesn't seem to affect composite stocks though.
- Cost - Over $10 per small can.

Have any of you tried it? What were your experiences. If you've used it very long, do you still like it?

I love Wipe-Out. You don't have to be that "dainty" with it. I don't wear gloves. You're handling a solvent, not playing with Mercury.

I've used it on wood stock guns and haven't had any problems but it could just be that the finish I have are not affected by it. I know it's expensive, but I think it works good enough and is easy enough to use to justify the price.

My $.02

AC, I've been using it for a while now, I think it's great stuff, It works for most gun cleaning jobs without the muscle and sweat. I never worried about the chemicals much, but I worked as a mechanic for years, and soaked enough varsol into my skin to float a battleship. I figure that will do me in soon enough without worrying about any other chemicals I use. FWIW - Dan

Chuck I know you asked Dan, but the two places I know of to get it are Midway and from the mfg.

Mfg's websites are...

www.paulcompany.com and www.sharpshootr.com

They were both down the other day, don't know if they're up now or not.
