I recently acquire a Win mod. 70 barrel in 225 win in a deal with a host of other items. I've always wanted a gun in this cartridge just for the hell of it since it's different and the barrel seems to be in good shape. Here's my question, realizing that headspace may be an issue that may have to be corrected, what else would have to be changed to make a mod 70 of another caliber into a 225 win with this barrel? I'm assuming I'll need to find another push feed style 70 and was thinking a 22-250 might be the solution. What about things like bolt face, feed rails, etc.......? Thanks for any insight you guys can offer!

If you get a push feed 22-250 M70,everything should work.Bolt face is the same and case length is close. The barrel may or maynot headspace,it will have to be checked. The sights might not index,if you are going to use a scope this will not be an issue.Hope this is of some help.

Thanks Ray!, That's kind of what I thought and was hoping! I guess I'll be on the look out for a reasonablely price push feed 70 in 22-250 or 243.

I looked for quite some time for a heavy barreled 70 in 225. It seems the easiest way of finding a 225 is in a single shot action. I did finally find one on this forum from Washington state. The main reason in wanting a 225 is when I was a kid my neighbor had one and it impressed me at the time I like the rifle but one rifle in 225 is enough for me!
