I need to remove the sleeve and cocking piece from the firing pin on a 1952 model 70. I have done many mausers but this is my first 70. I have the assembly out of the bolt but would like some pointers before attempting to removing the sleeve and cocking piece. I did a search here in the archives but came up empty.

Thanks,

RJS

The cocking piece is a solid unit with the firing pin.

Drill a hole in a piece of wood or metal slightly larger than the firing pin. Insert pin into hole and push down enough to turn F/P spring retainer 90 degrees. That will allow the retainer and spring to be removed form the F/P. Now remove the F/P retainer screw from bolt sleeve. The firing pin/cocking piece assemble will now slide out of the bolt sleeve.

Thanks Roger the info came in very handy. Looks like this one is going to take some work and parts to get running again.

Thanks again,

RJS
