I need to remove the sleeve and cocking piece from the firing pin on a 1952 model 70. I have done many mausers but this is my first 70. I have the assembly out of the bolt but would like some pointers before attempting to removing the sleeve and cocking piece. I did a search here in the archives but came up empty. Thanks, RJS

The cocking piece is a solid unit with the firing pin. Drill a hole in a piece of wood or metal slightly larger than the firing pin. Insert pin into hole and push down enough to turn F/P spring retainer 90 degrees. That will allow the retainer and spring to be removed form the F/P. Now remove the F/P retainer screw from bolt sleeve. The firing pin/cocking piece assemble will now slide out of the bolt sleeve. Roger Kehr Kehr Engraving Company (360)456-0831

Thanks Roger the info came in very handy. Looks like this one is going to take some work and parts to get running again. Thanks again, RJS
