I had a R3 pad installed on my 300 RUM for the people who shoot it and think it kicks to much. Where the screw goes in it broke and so there is nothing to hold the screw.

Can this be fixed or will I have to get another stock?

SSSSHHhHHHHHHHH....don't tell anyone.....quiet about this.....ok?

I never screw one on.....I epoxy them on permanently. If one needs to remove it must be ground off.

Use acraglas gel or two-ton epoxy or equivalent. Don't use 5-minute epoxy.....it's too brittle.

have I misunderstood you....I believe you've screwed on a recoil pad and the screw hole is clogged with a broken screw. Is this correct?

Vapodog,
It's synthetic and where the screw catches that part is broke so there is nothing there for the screw to hold

You can use epoxy to build up the area where the screw is supposed to hold. However epoxying the recoil pad on might be the best idea.

since I dont know much about epoxying etc. would I be better off to just take it to a smith and let them do it so I dont screw it up any worse?

Under the circumstances the answer might be....yes....and chalk it up to the cost of education.

Actually I didn't personally put the recoil pad on it, but I will take it to a smith anyway just to make sure it gets done right.

Wow thanks Vapodog for that insider tip on stock repair. The secret is out now and everyone will know how to do it and put all the gunsmiths out of business. What were you thinking?

Only cost 2 or 3 dollars for epoxy at Wal-Mart. Put some on the recoil pad let it set over night perfect.
