I am in the process of putting a 6.5x47 together for the purpose of deer an antelope hunting. I came across Northwest Action works and was considering have them true the action. Have any of you used them before. What was your experience with their work. There prices are very reasonable.
Never heard of them but a word of caution; make sure you know exactly what it is they do to "accuraize" and action. Some only face the receiver and lap the lugs and charge an arm and a leg. To a minimum, single point the receiver threads, locking lug surfaces, both the bolt and receiver and bolt face.

I agree with that also. Lots of folks use different terms for accurizing, true up, and blueprint. Find out exactly what they are doing and how much before committing. Kobe is good, reasonable, and will get it back to you in a timely manner.
Greg does great work, but in my opinion his $560 job is the true setup. Why pay that kind of money when you can sell yours and and add the $560n and have within a few bucks of a true custom with a much higher resale.
Please explained true custom or being within a few bucks of a true custom?
I've sent at 3 M700, 2 Nesika and 1 Borden to be accurized and chambered, as a matter of fact, most custom action maker's refer to Greg Tannel for barrel chambering and install.
Is butchlambert and butchloc the same person or worse yet somewhat a troll? I noticed that the names are somewhat the same and both praises Jim Kobe??? Anybody seeing the connection between the 2?

A conspiracy theorist, or, a nut job, which are you?

Mmmmmmmmm? They both registered in November 2004????? Mmmmmmmmm? They both registered a week apart????
Say what???
Heck if someone wants to send Nesika and Borden actions off to be accurized more power to them. Me I'd rather shoot them like they came and put the $$ into something else.
OK maybe prices have gone up and I'm too lazy to go look. But last time I looked I could take a Rem 700 action sell it take that money add $560 and could get into a custom action range. However if you are planning on spending the $$ to accurize a custom then no the numbers don't work.

I didn't say a thing about Greg's work. It is top notch. Just go to his website and see what he does for $560. It is good work, but if you add into the $560 price for the work and the value of your receiver you are very close to the price of a custom. Isan't that what I posted?
I have even sent my Nesika to Jim Borden to get a "BORDEN BUMP" installed. I will admit I am a accuracy nut.
Like I said I think someone should do whatever makes them happy as far as THEIR rifle is concerned. If a Borden Bump makes someone sleep better or have more faith in their rifle and they have the $$ then they should do it.
The couple "custom" actions I've owned in the last 40 years shot better than I could right out of the box. Guess that is why I gave up trying to shoot benchrest.
As I said $$ I'm sure have gone up since the last time I bought one. Then for just a few $$ more I bought custom vs a sleeved 700.

ramrod, time has changed in the Benchrest shooting world as it appears you've been out of touch, even Jim Borden patent his "Borden Bump" on Nesika action before being bought out and was force to make his own actions. You should know, you get what you pay for in benchrest shooting, but this does not apply to hunting.
sorry about the bickering about where and how to spend money. But that cartridge that you have is well knowned to be accurate, I am thinking about chambering my Stolle/Kelbly action to the same cartridge as well.

So butchlambert, so you are saying you have nothing to do with butchloc? It just seems so.
WTF!!! I know both of these guys and they are both good guys, not the same guy, two separate guys. One lives in Texas, the other in Minnesota. Who the phuque is this Norseman guy?

Norseman, I did go to kindergarten. The real accurizing job that Greg does is $560. So your receiver is worth less than $240. Must be a lot cheaper wherever you reside. Custom receivers are $900+. I believe I said that would put you "very" close to a custom. A custom will have a much better resale value than your trued, accurized, blueprinted factory receiver. If we are talking hunting rifles, anything beyond facing the front receiver ring, good trigger, custom barrel, and a bedding job will outshoot you. You know I have shot Bench Rest across the USA for 25yrs. I've never heard of you.
Norseman, Who,custom receiver manufacturers, says to have Greg do the barrel chambering for their receivers? I know they don't have anything against Greg, but most of them will fit and chamber for their own receivers. Jim Borden, John Pierce, Jerry Stiller for sure are in the chambering business.
