I have a couple mulberry trees that I have cut down or cut big branchs off. Maybe mine are different but that tree is like a suckulant, Its full of water takes for ever to dry and wont hardly burn. They grow like weeds.

Its very tuff to split. The stuff is almost like rubber.

Yep when i was a kid we used to eat our weight in mulberrys from the trees we built our tree houses in but the seller sez this wood is from a "Fruitless" mulberry. wonder if there's a difference?

I have fruitless mulbarrys but had a couple that sprouted and grew up to have fruit.

The wood has a yellow color to it. I still have a bunch out back its crappy fire wood. Its a stringy, bouncy, rubbery kind of wood

Id like to see a Avacado tree blank. I could get some of that.

I've got an avocado plank that a California friend sawed for me to build a lap steel guitar out of. He "kiln dried" it in a parked car. It's a light brown wood, medium density. It doesn't have a really showy grain in the piece I have. Has a nice musical tone when tapped. Sort of reminds me of mahogany.

I had a stock for my BT99 trap gun made out of a slab that had been cut 4 or 5 years before I had it made .

A thing of beauty , but I sold it to pay for other toys , lack of true skill on the range led me to other interests .

When dry it is hard but with fibers or something like that ,Yellow , brown , orange , red with some green .
Sap wood is white to cream .

Doug, I have been looking at a few of these from this guy and the blank you brought up is not the best I have seen from him. Most of the others have nice yellows all through the stock, unlike this one. The last really nice one went for $65 and for that price, I will probably try one next he has a good one. Put a nice walnut forend on it and who knows.

Gentlemen:

The seller of this blank is Ray and Cathy Richter. I have purchased a considerable number of blanks from them and have not been disappointed. I am certain that a post asking about the wood will get you an honest opinion as to its qualities and suitability.

I confess that I have been a bit curious about this wood myself.
