Some years back Warne had a problem with soft screws, quite a few gunnutz I know were snapping heads and stripping threads. I just removed a scope that was put on about that long ago and find the screws were well on their way to being stripped, Warne used small heli-coils in the female halves of the rings. I need to find some 6-32 thread screws, OAL of .575", head thickness is about 0.10" with 0.475 thread length, 3/32 Allen or T-15 Torx heads .197 diameter. The rings are stainless so silver would be preferable but at this point blue is fine too. I tried Warne, they sent me what they had but they've changed their specs and they don't work on the old rings. Any leads to find these? Brownells doesn't carry them, neither does Midway. It's not like they're some crazy handmade English screw from the 19th century, they are a standard thread, just hard to find. thanks, Rob

Most scope rings and bases are 6-40 or 6-48 not 6-32. I was at a trade show in March and my both was beside Wally and Bobbie Hart. All their scope rings had stainless heli-coils in them. You might give R.W. Hart and son a call and see what heli- coils they are using. LongShot
