Cerberus did such a fine job turning around Chrysler and GMAC, Dakota should be a snap for them.

You got that right! Although, I've not reccomended a Nesika to a customer for at least 3 or 4 years now. I'll bet it's for sale or liquidation in less than 24 months.

Yup, I have little confidence that Remington will manage Dakota any better than they managed the Zastava line!

Well, at least it will make it a lot easier for Obama and his minions to close down the gun industry in the U.S.

I know this is probably just paranoia from too many years of being attacked by idiot, unpatriotic, anti-second-amendment criminals in the US Congress, but I am starting to wonder exactly what Cerberus is up to?

They are buying gun-making and associated firms right and left. I wonder when the government will buy THEM under the guise of some bail-out or other and then shut the whole thing down? [Much easier than trying to get rid of a whole bunch of independent right-wing (capitalist) companies through some federal legislation in clear violation of the Second Amendment.]

By the way, did you guys notice that Parade Magazine has a poll today asking for votes on whether gun laws should be tightened up? All part of today's article in which Parade says the current loosening of gun laws is responsible for an increasing murder rate in this country.

Guess it never occured to them to look at the surnames of the murderers and ask how many might be committed by non-citizens and other habitual criminal groups.

There IS a reason that our laws don't let just anyone legally into the country any time they wish....yet. Too bad we don't enforce THAT law.

Not a chance. Charlie got a small check for the assets but he's left with larger liabilities at the holding company. This was a liquidating asset sale. Kokesh's goose has been cooked.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

I just wonder whether the same crooks will keep running Dakota's business, you know, the individuals like The Widow who've given them their FINE, SQUARE, HONEST (!?!?) rep over the years?

Should be a great improvement over the current mess. Remington is a solid company and has actually made money over the past few years.

I use the 870 all the time and like it. I hope they come up with a great new CRF rifle based on the Dakota action.

Why wouldn't they run it as a wholly owned subsidiary and leave the products as they are?
The brand names are recognizeable and strong. Seems all they really need to do is quality control and better marketing.

Didn't the place make money when Norma Allen was running it?

Remington is good at marketing. But they win no prizes any more in the quality control department.

'Run off' was not exactly the phrase I had in mind. 'Cheat into the poorhouse' is more like what I think of when I think about the shameful leadership of that shameful company and the shameful way they have treated some of the nicest folks in the gun business after Don's death. Can you spell Grisel and Miller, to name just 2?
Regards, Joe
