What tools are necessary to fit an oversize base pin into a Ruger Super Blackhawk? Is it difficult to do? I'm under the impression that the installation of one will help with end shake problems.
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,

STOP! Cylinder endshake is the amount of play which exists laterally (front and back) in the frame, and is corrected by rebushing the cylinder. The prefered repair requires machining and installing a custom full length bushing similar to the Colts. The base pin hole through the new "longer" bushing should be cut to precisely fit the stock base pin.

Unless the holes in the frame are worn out, then don't open these unless absolutely necessary. Now to answer your question, you use precision reamers and a mill or lathe to open these for the oversized base pin. Avoid using drill bits to open these, as the finish is substandard and poor results can be expected.

Good luck,

Malm
