I posted this on the Military & Military Surplus forum and upon second thought believe it should have been posted here instead. The question being... What are your thoughts about this method of lead removal?

I won't remove Lead! Paint maybe! - No disrespect intented. If you have a serious leading problem the only answer is scrubbing with JB compound or and I hesitate to mention this (plug the bore at the chamber and muzzel. add a drop of Liquid Mercury) shake and wait two minutes, thenswab out the bore. the mercury will amalgamate any lead and remove it as a flaky powder. -Rob

Well, somebody ain't holdin' their mouth just right, cause that concoction worked for me! several months ago I read about the vinegar and peroxide cure I believe on John Taffin's site and decided to try it on a badly fouled Vaquero. I've never seen anything other than the outers system that works so well. I plugged the barrel and filled it from the throat, and immediately the lead started to boil out! two or more series of the same and no more lead! Now it did take some tight patches with a proper fitting jag to push the lead out, but by-golly it got underneath the lead and out it came. The cylinder was cleaned the same way. I guess it must have cost me all of 13 cents and 1/2 hour of my time, but I'm a vinegar and peroxide man now!!!!

Hey guys, I just stumbled upon the greatest bore cleaner ever, soy milk and beer! The soy milk provides the oil, and the beer provides the vehicle! I love this forum. It shows that mental masturbation, can, in fact, become a true art form!

Well I don't know about the soy milk part, but the beer part does seem to make the gun cleaning process a little smoother at times......

Craigster,
This is the wrong forum for masterbation. You want the newsgroup:

alt.binaries.erotica.amateur.female

I recently wanted to pressure test my 45/70 handi rifle, so with 405 gr cast hard bullet with lube in the lube bands, I worked up with Unique until the brass case head flowed into the depression of the poorly fit extractor. The last couple of shots made leading in the muzzle area. I used plain old "BreakFree Bore Cleaner" and it came out in flakes.

That bore cleaner is not the copper removing kind, just gets out the powder fouling.

Well boys, All the name calling , the cat calls, and juvinile responses to genuine efforts to communicate about our hobbies has gotten to me. I don't need it. So many of you want your own sand box. Have at it, I've had enough. Jim.......

Jim,

Try not to let it get to you too much, remember anyone on the planet with a computer can post to this very forum here, but remember that the intent is to annoy, not share information. If you let it bother you then you are responsible for letting them win and you lose.... Personally I'm glad this thread happened because I have never heard of the peroxide and vinegar treatment, now I have it filed away in the ol' brain cells and one of these days I'll have a situation to try it out on.

I haven't read the article but an acid and an oxidizer in MY barrel at the same time won't be happening.

I have seen other forums (Shotgun Sports comes to mind) become absolutely ruined by moronic responses such as above. While I have no experience with the cleaner above I have sure discovered other concotions from the postings of others that have worked great and at low cost. I really consider this to be one of the few really good forums left so lets police our own.
If you don't have something constructive to reply, Craigster, KEEP YOUR YAP SHUT.
