Hello, First, I'm sorry if this topic isn't in the right spot. I have a friend who is in the military and is going to Turkey for a couple months. Is there anyway that he can bring home firearms from Turkey? If so, how? Does anyone know of any good gunmakers in Turkey for both Rifles and Shotguns? An help would be appreciated. ddj The best part of hunting and fishing was the thinking about going and the talking about it after you got back - Robert Ruark

It's been some years ago but I was able to bring home a number of Sako and Husqvarna rifles when I was stationed in Germany. I boxed and mailed them to my parents' home along with a completed customs card and a copy of my PCS orders. The military transportation group of whatever service is involved should be able to give details. I chose to mail them rather than ship them in household goods because I didn't want them stored in a warehouse before they left Europe and after they arrived in the US. Also, if the base has a rod and gun club, they might be the best source of info. "Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult."

My friend serves on a Reserve base, they don't have arod and gun club. That a good idea about having them shipped vs. having to go through customs. Would you need ATF paperwork to bring in a gun from another country? ddj The best part of hunting and fishing was the thinking about going and the talking about it after you got back - Robert Ruark

I can't answer about ATF forms. A rod and gun club in Turkey would be best to provide the info. It doesn't even have to be the base or post to where he or she is going. Your friend can contact them - there are lots of references on the net and in the military for people moving overseas that can be used for contact info. Try Incirlik AB used to have a nice R&G Club - might try there. "Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult."

the last two i got from australia was fairly easy. do the atf and customs paperwork. they just could not be or never were a military arm. the third one was a re- barreled large martini rifle, i was told it started life as a military arm and was denied the importation.
