Patrick...think about it for a second. How can a small piece of metal like a scope mount, that you pay a couple of bucks for, add any rigidity to an action...especially with the relatively small screws that attach it. Stick with the 2-piece...they look better and don't get in the way of loading the rifle. | |||

I agree. The only time that I think a 1 piece base has merit is if you are working on an older project that someone may have tapped unevenly, and then the purpose is to keep the rings in alignment, not the gun from bending. | |||

I don't think you'll find any significant difference between the strength of the one-piece and the two-piece. The main difference is that the one-piece weighs a bit more and presents something of an obstacle in accessing the loading port. | |||
