Switching from 270W to 25-06
Hi, I'm planning to rebarrel my Ruger M77MKII cal. 270W with a Lothar Walter 25-06 (Imp?) barrel; my questions are:

-Will I experience feeding problems? (I don't think so)

-Is 1-10 a good rifling twist?

Thanks.

no measurable difference in the rounds...

i wouldn't go improved, though i think that the 257rob will do whatever the 25-06 will do. with 1/2 the felt recoil

1:10 is mebbe slow if you are ever going to want to shoot barnes or if you have any old HEAVY .257 bullets...

thumb thumb I agree. I have my own wildcat much like a Gibbs case. I gain 10-11% capacity compared to the 4% from the AI. In a 24" barrel I simply burned more powder for pretty much the same velocity. The normal 25-06 has plenty of capacity for a 25cal. A normal 257Bob loaded to 6mm pressure gives up very little to the 25-06. If you simply want an AI case the Bob improved is hard to beat.

I agree with Jeffe if you are going to shoot 100gr or less the 1 in 10 should work except for the long shapes like the Barnes. I would stick a 1 in 9" and be able to shoot anything. You will not give up anything by doing so.

As usual just my $.02
