Replace the floor plate release with one that has a bow release. You can find them from some of the AR custom makers and ebay from time to time.

As Dall85 stated it is a simple swap. The release in the Bow was the early style. The late MKXs, Dalys and Rem 798 all had the cross pin.

As usual just my $.02

You could also mill off the guard and replace it (weld)with one that had a release in the bow.
Something like one of these.

Kevin,

Who makes the trigger guards like you show? I have welded up the original and made the release on several of these actions. The last one which is in the Stockmaker Show and Tell at the top of the Gunsmith forum has the original button filed down to clear the stock without cutting into the wood.

Les

The ones on the left were made by Mr. Wisner. The one on the right by Mr. Blackburn.
