Wanted to get precise measurements on my DR stock, and as I was growing frustrated with the various squares, rulers, strings, etc. littering my table, my eyes fell on my laser level. This one gives you a red line on a wall, adjustable to be horizontal or vertical. Cogs started screeching in my skull, and here is the result... The whole setup. Note the spirit level on which the barrels rest, with particular attention to the micro-adjustable levelling device just below and to the left of the bubble. And yes, the table is not level. The whole house is not. Makes things easy when kids lose marbles, they always en up in the same corner of the room. Red line shining on the bead... Through the top center of the action... And here you can finally get an accurate measurement of cast at heel and toe! (not much in this case, 2.5mm / 1/10th" at both heel and toe). The laser was set on a highly accurate stainless steel multi-stage rest (two cooking pots upside-down on the table). Philip | ||
