Gentlemen. I have a 1917 enfield Eddystone that I want to tap for a scope. Before some of you cringe, it has already had the barrel cut off, barrel and action blued. Anyway. Is there a set amount to take off the rear sight platform (along with the wings)??

Note, The plan is to do this modification on a wire EDM

Suggestions??

It is < !--color--> ALOT < !--color--> of milling and grinding work to be done with M1917's.
I have done it a few times before, and I personally would never willingly do it again.
Before you get into it I would suggest that you research what you are getting yourself into.

don't disagree with you, but I have the rifle, has a Nice walnut stock, price was right, and most of all, I already have a 35 whelen improved in a 1917 action. So why not a matching receiver in 06.
