fireball168Recommend gunsmith who has done a Mark X 458 WM to 458 Lott Conversion
So....I've got a factory .458 Mark X action.
A threaded and short chambered Shilen .458 WM barrel.
And factory .375 H&H Mark X bottom metal - opened up at the front.
Who has opened up the front of the receiver like the .375 H&H Mark X and made the 458 Lott feed and run like it should out of a Mark X?
I've got no problem fitting the barrel myself, just not comfortable opening up the front of the receiver/feedrails/feedramp. Will send the whole job out to someone who has done it and made it work right.
Thanks - Bryan

ireload2Screw the unfitted barrel in by hand and see if it feeds as is. I suspect it will feed as is or very close to it.

jeffeossoHere's what I would do..
move 1/2 of the "undercut" to the back of the mag, and make a new "riveted on nose" (which is what that box has) that only puts 1/2 of the cut out on the front...
then have just about anyone sort out the differences....
oh, and when you recut the mag, you can open it up just a hair, to make it stagger the 458 lotts a bit better

There's absolutely no chance that it is going to feed as it sits. The 458's weren't opened up to the front like the 375's from the factory.
Jim - I sent you an email regarding the project.
