Do these run heavy? Montana lists a weight of 4 lbs. for a 28" No. 4 whereas a Douglas No. 4 is 3 1/2 lbs. for a 26". Lilja's excel sheet shows 3.522 lbs. for a No. 4 28" .308.

This will be for a .375.

Thanks

yes, they are VERY heavy for their "number" designation. I bought one without paying too much attention and had to send it back. WAY too heavy for what I was doing and I did not feel like turning it down. If anything, the weights listed on their web site are on the light side.

COuntour numbers are meaningless when comparing different manufacturers. ANy one can call their barrels whatever they like. Looking at the dimensions and weights as you are doing is the only way to make and apples-to-apples comparison

MRC actions are very heavy for their size as well. I guess they watched the movie "Super Size Me" or something!

I put the Montana contour dimensions for a No. 4 in Lilja's Excel sheet (making assumptions about the radius & density). This yields 3 lbs for a 24" .375. Montana said "that's about right" so I went ahead and ordered. I will keep my fingers crossed.
