Received a set of rings on a scope that I am not sure what bases they use. The rings are 1" and are similar to Redfield but they are identical for both front and back. They have a cylinder shape protruding from the bottom that is .3" dia. by .2" long with a half moon slot across either the front or back of the extrusion.

Any help appreciated.

James,

From what you're describing I would suggest you appear to have a pair/set of Leupold Quick Release Rings that will only fit Leupold's Quick Release Mounts.

On Leopold's website you ough to be able to find a list of available mounts to fit those rings and you'll most likely also have to adjust the ring spacing to fit whatever rifle you decide to mount it on.

Cheers,
