SmilerWhat is the easiest and best way to lighten the trigger pull on a Ruger MK 77 SS .260 caliber. Not to make it a hair trigger or anything but just loosen it up some. I have changed springs on Remingtons in the past and it worked fine. Never fooled with this trigger before and only want to improve it a bit with out a lot of changing, etc.

The best way to improve the trigger on a Ruger is to trade it for a M-70. lol

sorry.....I just had to do that.

SmilerHey understand the M-70! As usual sometimes I post with out looking over the pre-posts. Found the one about the MK 77 trigger, downloaded it, printed out the picture, took the trigger apart, got the old dreminal tool, polishing stones, 000 steel wool and carefully changed the trigger and polished all the pins. Man did it make a differance! Good crisp an dabout 2.5 LBS which is ok for me and a lot better than it was.

Which version of the Ruger Model 77 is it -- the older one with the tang safety, or the new Mark II? If it is the older one with the tang safety, then see the other thread here about smoothing out the trigger on a Ruger 77 -- one of the posts in that thread has a link to a website that presents instructions on how to improve the Ruger trigger.

If it's the newer Ruger 77 Mark II, then I think you need to replace the factory trigger with a Rifle Basix one. Midway was selling those for a discount price recently -- I don't know what one will cost now. This trigger is very easy to install, and after that it is easy to adjust.
