Model 700 short action vs Model Seven

Had someone ask my opinion recently about a short action rifle for his daughter for Deer. He planned on a budget build kind of thing so Remington actions were on his mind. He wanted to know, is the 700 short action or Model Seven the better action to go with ?

I had no clue how to answer. Mausers or a Model 70 I know my way around, but have never owned either of the Remington actions. So just too satisfy my own curiosity, what are the difference in the two and which one is the better action ?

Thanks

Guess I should have looked before I jumped in and asked! This article covers the differences well.

Glad I didn't give him an opinion one way or the other. Even with the differences between the two, I'm not sure which one is really "better" than the other.

If you're wanting to build the smallest & lightest rifle the model 7 is the one to use. I do like the more open ejection port of the 7 also. Ultimately it's what you like that's most important.
