Am interested to know opinions on how (or if) one could convert something like a Kimber 8400 to a detachable box magazine from their factory floor plate and follower? I really like the Kimber rifles but hate floor plate/follower setups.

Fish,

Of course it can be done. Perhaps a smith who does "tactical" rifles would have the experiance to add a magazine.

It might be easier to find another brand made with a magazine.

Thanks Savage, I'm sure your right--I'm having a hard time finding the combined features I like in a rifle of the quality/price zone in calibers I would like.... I have a load of SAKO's, most of them stainless, so I'm spooked about them right now and just fleshing out some other options.
I'll try your advice and poke around for a few tactical smiths and see what I can come up with. Just wondered if this was something that could be done reasonably from both technical and economical perspectives.

Regards--Don.
