Very mixed from what I've read. I had one that wouldn't shoot but it was installed and chambered so poorly I can't blame the barrel. The Smith did make good on it though. Are they back in business? I thought their accumax barrels were manufactured by them? It's been a long time since they have come up.

I don't know what to think of them. I've been trying to research their site but I get a "illegal action" alert and the page shuts down. Don't have that problem anywhere else.

I tried a search and came up with this which opened ok
http://www.blackstar-barrels.com/

Their parent company is http://www.delstar.com/

That one doesn't open for me.

There is a bench rest guy, Dan Hackett I think, that speaks well of them.

Several years ago, the company used Lothar-Walther barrels in a special stainless made for cryo treating. Blackstar then did their own internal micro-finishing on the barrel and cryo'd it. At that time, they shot extremely well. However, there has been some realignment of the business and personnel, so at this time this information is old.

Memory doesn't serve me as well as it used to, but I seem to remember they used to use some special stainless barrels that were made by Lothar Walther, and put through their polish/cryo treatment. Called SS700 (17-4 Stainless) - which I have heard you cannot wear out but is a real bitch to machine. Wish I could be of more help - but I am sure there is someone around with experience with them. I was looking into them - but discovered they had been dropped.
