savage rebarreling

ive seen that savages headspace iis in the barrel.so what does it take to put on beside vise,barrel nut wrench and gauges.is it iguess made shollow so you bolt it on check it and then use spacers to move it away from the bolt.ive never seen a rebarreling so i dont no. thanks jason

No, it's made shallow so that you can check it, then ream until proper headspace is achieved, including the crush of tightening (approx. .002") - Dan

There should be no reaming involved if you have a pre-chambered bbl for the savage. Screw the bbl in with the headspace gauge in the chamber up against the bolt then tighten the barrel nut.Headspace is set.::::MV

Yes a go gauge - Ive heard that it can be done with a fired case also in a pinch.
