The ejector on my Ruger 22 pistol needs to be replaced. I have a new ejector and rivet. Is there somewhere I can get tips/instructions on how to do this operation? I can't find a gunsmith to do it and the cost of sending the gun to Ruger is prohibitive. Thanks in advance. | ||

Look at how the old one is installed. Cut the head off the old rivet with a cut off disc and your dremel. Drive out the old rivet from the bottom up, insert the new ejector and rivet and peen it. Don't forget to use something to hold the ejector and rivet in place while you peen it. _______________________________________________________________________________ This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. What do you use to hold the parts in place when you peen it? I do have a rivet set I can use to peen the rivet. The person on the phone at Ruger told me to use the bolt to align the parts when you peen the rivet. It seems like that wouldn't hold the ejector up tight enough to get a good solid fit. | |||

I would make an anvil on the lathe that just fits the reciever hole. Then I would mill a .5 degree tapered flat so that it wedged in under the new rivet. Rusty Rusty's Action Works Montross VA.
