IS it possible to increase the amount of extraction ina o/u shotgun? I have an old C/D Venture that I love but it's an extractor (the only one I've ever seen) and i would like the shells to be pulled a bit more out of the chamber... is this possible??

Can't answer that without laying eye's on it. One thing to keep in mind though is that increasing the distance the extractors extend may interfere with closing the action. _______________________________________________________________________________ This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. I thought abotu that too. This gun is an odd one. There are no ejectors, doesnt even look to have been intended (although every other VEnture I have seen has them) But the extractors ...ah hell.. I'll post a pic when I get home...

The answer is Maybe. This is the third Miroku I have heard of that is extractor only. One other Venture, and one Field grade. The production ejector plates are set up for Ejectors and the extra movement needed, when they function. There is about another 3/16" in the 20 ga frame, and another 1/4" in the 12 ga frame of play that could be gained. There is a cam lug in the receiver, that lays in the middle of the complex recess in the ejector plate. It may be possible to weld up the ejector plates and recut them to remove a lot of that front to rear play. The parts would have to be reheat treated after all the fitting. The cam surfaces toward the front of the plates is what returns the plates to start recocking the ejector hammers, the final recocking is done by the end of the ejectors vs the breech face. The camming of the the ejectors ? now extractors is done by the innner rear cam surfaces as the barrel is tipped down. Those are the ones that would have to be moved foreward. FYI, the current Citroi ejector plates, will fit these older guns with minor fitting, BUT they are now a MIMed part, so any welding on them may be questionable. But I would play around with a new cheap part before welding on the old machined part. Miroku, was good at doing small runs of odd shotguns, to test markets etc, the old Charles Daly catolges simply say extractor version available in a couple of models. Good luck. James Wisner

I had a 20 ga with only extractors and I did sell it and bought one with ejectors. I don't remember the grade but it was a plain one. I love those 20 and 28 ga Mirokus. Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild
