Question for Bill Leeper
Bill, I respect your opinion so I have a 2 part question to ask you if you don't mind.

1) I have a BSA Hunter (Royal) in .30-06 that is in need of a new barrel. As I own another very accurate '06 I am thinking of having a .338-06 barrel installed on the BSA. This action is the original sporting action from the 1950's and it is a mauser type CRF action that has been lightened at the factory with a fair bit of milling. As there should be no work required to the magazine box or feed rails I think it should be an fairly easy conversion. What is your opinion on using this action for this project?

2) What is your opinion of Bevan King's barrels?

I have indeed been taking some time for (unsuccessful) elk chasing and to shoot a LR match.
The BSA action should work pretty well for the 338-06 with little or no alteration. I think these are a pretty nice action although I'm not that fond of the bolt stop system.
I have not gotten around to using one of Bevan's barrels but I have looked at a few and they look very good. Those who have them speak highly of them. Regards, Bill.

The experience I had with king barrels was a good one. Most consistently accurate barrel/gun I have ever owned. Wasn't finicky and was an excellent price.

The voodo one must go through to remove the bolt on these old girls almost require three hands eh? [Wink] LoL
